Inside Keyzo: An Interview with Kevin

Kevin P’Ayako, one of our Business Development Managers, started with the company in September 2024. In a short space of time he’s come a long way to enhance his skills, knowledge and experience within our Commercial Team.

We had a chat with Kevin to see how he’s getting on in his current role, his journey so far and what his aspirations are.

What does your role involve as a Business Development Manager at Keyzo?

Find new business opportunities by all forms of outbounding actives. Addressing business use cases that to help solve their needs with Keyzo’s solutions. Once qualified a lead, I will create an opportunity of the potential deal which falls into my pipeline. I then conduct product demonstrations to illustrate the solutions and further demonstrate the value of the product. Finally, working the opportunity until a deal has been agreed and signed back.

Did you have any relevant experience prior to joining the company?

I have over 6 years’ experience working in Cyber Security & Social Media SaaS products. I previously worked as Account Executive and before that, a Business Development Representative.

How has Keyzo helped you develop your skills and knowledge since you started?

I have developed great collaboration and communication skills. Collaboration with my team and boss to ensure we are all aligned and sharing ideas. In addition, my communication has elevated because the company has welcomed and allowed freedom of communication. My knowledge around Compliance and Policy makers has grown so much that I relate very well across many persona types that would be a perfect fit for Keyzo.

What do you like most about your Business Development Manager Role?

I enjoy the hunt for new business. Every prospect is different, so the approach needs to reflect that. It builds a foundation so I can approach anyone, of any job title and be confident in my delivery. I also like closing deals. There’s no better feeling seeing the fruits of your labour and with every deal won, I grow in the role and as a person.

Who inspires you the most?

My boss, my team, my ambition to succeed. My boss inspires me because she has a vision of where she wants the company to go, and I admire her drive to make it happen. My team inspires me to do better, work smarter, drive harder and lift me up when I am in my challenging moments. And finally, my ambition in life inspires me to make my thoughts and dreams into a reality.

What’s been your personal highlight so far since Joining Keyzo?

My first event after 3 weeks starting the new role. I came into that event wanting to prove myself and show my worth to my team in person. I felt it was a baptism of fire because I was in the deep end. And as previously mentioned, my boss and the team that was with me, gave me the energy, confidence and determination to make it a success and bring something new.

How do you find working remotely and how does Keyzo support you as a remote worker?

This has been a blessing! I find myself working more hours than I would being in the office. I look at this in a positive sense because I can continue as late as I want, and I can start as early as I want. I enjoy missing the morning rush into work and I enjoy knowing I am home as soon as the business day is done. Keyzo are very supportive in every aspect of the word.

What advice would you give someone thinking of becoming a Business Development Manager?

As a Business Development Manager or any vacancy, the willingness to learn, develop and practice is vitally important. Work as if you know nothing and continue as if there is something new to learn. With this mindset, skies the limit and Keyzo will be there to praise you when you are doing a great job and lift you in your challenging moments.
